2011 Workshop in Ukraineback
CEI WMF Workshop of Wholesale Market Managers – Study visit of Wholesale Market Managers from Central and Eastern Europe to Ukrainian Wholesale Markets – Kiev, Lviv – 4-8 October, 2011.The workshop was focused on Innovative opportunities for wholesale market operations using “Intellectual Logistics”.
Representatives of wholesale markets from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Capljina), Croatia (NWMC and Rijeka, Split), Hungary (Budapest), Poland (Bronisze, Rzeszów), Romania (Bucharest) and Ukraine (Lviv, Kiev, Donetsk) visited wholesale markets in Kiev and Lviv and had meetings with representatives of the Markets management, central and regional administration, and the media.
The workshop representatives had an opportunity to get acquainted with an innovative solution for WMs management and operations recently created, successfully tested and implemented in Ukraine. The solution is a totally new approach based on the so-called “Intellectual Logistics” which may address a number of issues that traditional and even mature markets of Europe have attempted to solve for a number of years looking for a new scheme of operations better addressing the challenges of the modern, rapidly changing and highly competitive marketplace.
Presentations of the Ukrainian Market representatives were the background for discussions on a number of important operational management issues, best practices, innovations, and market development strategies. The CEE Wholesale Market managers offered their feedback on the solutions implemented in Ukraine.
All the Foundation market representatives had presentations focusing on the current situation in their Markets, including their financial performance, a SWOT analysis, methods to face the global economic crisis, strategies for the future, new products and services to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing marketplace.
The presentation of the Bucharest Wholesale Market attracted a lot of attention of the audience due to recent Market privatisation process. The Foundation members welcomed the new representatives of the Bucharest WM Management: Ms Katy Pasculea and Ms Dana Bucur.
The Foundation official plenary meeting focused on the following issues:
• Approval of new members to the Foundation – “Stolichniy” Wholesale Market from Kiev and the “Gospodar” Wholesale Markets from Donetsk
• Discussion of the Foundation financial information for January-September 2011
• Approval of the Foundation activity plan for 2012 and 2013:
- Spring 2012 – Annual Meeting in Poland
- Autumn 2012 – Study visit to Rungis Wholesale Market, France/ MacFrut International Exhibition and Convention, Italy
- Spring 2013 – Annual Meeting in Hungary
- Autumn 2013 – Study visit to Spain
• A new idea of combining the Foundation Annual Meeting in Poland in spring 2012 with a one-day meeting of wholesalers and operators from the Foundation member countries (operator match-making event) under the auspices of the Foundation, the first international event of this type to be organized in Europe.
As a part of a cultural program, the Foundation members had an opportunity to visit a few unique tourist attractions both in Kiev and in Lviv.
