Workshops 2009back
Representatives of wholesale markets from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Capljina), Croatia (NWMC and Rijeka, Split), Hungary (Budapest), Poland (Bronisze, Rzeszów), Romania (Bucharest) and Ukraine (Lviv) visited the wholesale markets in Madrid and Barcelona.At MERCABARNA (Barcelona), the Foundation members had an opportunity to visit the Fish Wholesale Market, a logistic company (cold storage), the Fruit and Vegetables Wholesale Market and a waste treatment facility.
At MERCAMADRID the members also visited the Fish Wholesale Market, the Fruit & Vegetables Wholesale Market and the Warehouse Area (Zone of Logistic Activities).
The Foundation members participated in meetings with the representatives of the wholesale market managers and EMPRESA NATIONAL MERCASA. Mercasa has played a significant role in the organization of this event. Mercasa promotes and manages, in cooperation with the Municipalities of each city, a network of Food Units composed of 23 big wholesale distribution facilities all over Spain.
After presentations of the representatives of the markets management, the Foundation members participated in follow-up discussions on a number of important operational management issues, best practices and innovations, marketing strategy, market development strategy and its implementation, as well as new products and services.
The Foundation plenary meeting focused on the following issues: approval of the Foundation 2008 Report and the Financial Statements, election of a new Foundation Chairman of the Programme Council, Mr. Roman Fedyshyn, Executive Director of the Lviv Wholesale Market, and election of the members of the Management Board for a new term of office: President Mr. Zoran Krsnik, Vice President Mr. Krzysztof Karpa, Vice President Mr. Tibor Kekedi, Vice President Mr. George Vodislav.
As a part of a cultural program, the Foundation members had an opportunity to visit a few tourist attractions both in Barcelona and Madrid.
